San Antonio Community Hospital

The project upgraded the Central Plant’s systems for the 155,000 sq. ft. Women’s Center Addition. A feasibility study compared five cogeneration alternatives, with the optimal system—three natural gas reciprocating engine generators producing 2.7 MW and 130 therms/hour of heat—installed and operational. The engines produce 13,000 lbs/hour of steam for hospital use. The project also included 1,500 feet of 8-inch steam distribution for future expansion, complying with emission, air quality, asbestos, and SCAQMD/EPA regulations.
