Webb Schools – Hooper Community Center (Historic and Adaptive Reuse)

Budlong played a pivotal role as the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineer in the renovation of The Webb Schools’ Hooper Community Center, working closely with Page & Turnbull to transform the 90-year-old gymnasium into a modern hub for learning and community engagement. Budlong’s expertise helped optimize the building’s infrastructure, ensuring it met contemporary educational needs while preserving its historic character. A key focus was sustainability, with the team repurposing the original maple gym flooring as part of their material reuse efforts.

Additionally, Budlong’s engineering solutions were critical in implementing the indoor-outdoor concept, integrating bifold and French doors to create flexible spaces that seamlessly connected the interior and exterior. The successful project highlights the collaboration between Budlong and Page & Turnbull, resulting in a revitalized, sustainable, and inclusive community center that serves as a dynamic space for both students and faculty.
